Default rev limiter.

ok so i know these trucks have a rev limiter on them but would it hurt if i used it every once in a while? i just changed the plenum pan out with the hughes kit and my truck has 168,xxx miles on it.

I don't recommend bouncing off the rev limiter, especially on a high mileage motor.

It doesn't make any power up there anyways but it's not going to hurt anything.

When i go mudding i wind on it sometimes and i have rpms bounce....done it many times....i got 228,809 miles...but ive invested alot of $$$ in the ol girl but she still runs perfect

That's news to me. obviously it doesn't make any power on the top end but I was just always under the impression that it was better not to bounce off the rev limiter if you can help it....mudding is a different story haha

Ive bounced mine of the rev limiter more times then I can count.. Not doing it on purpose but I never had an issue

I'm not saying hold it there, but letting her sing isn't the end of the world. If your motor scatters because it hits 5200RPM, it wasn't long for this world anyways. The rev limit is there for the valve train, much beyond that the valves float, and as said, it's not making any power up there anyways. If the cam, intake and valve train made best power at 5500 RPM I have no doubt the factory would have made the rev limit 6K.
