Default No constant power...

Ok, when I first got my 96 ram I noticed every time I shut the key off the radio never held its time or station (no memory power) but its a little deeper then that, I also have no dome lights when the door opens or can I turn the dome lights on(ign key in off position) When I turn the key on everything works perfect. Seems like there is no constant battery power, like a wire off? relay?

Ps; Spark plug and manifold issue have been resolved thanks to the advice of some DF members... Thank You! This site is awesome...

is it a stock or aftermarket stereo? i would almost guess the stereo may be screwed unless someone wired the constant power wire to the ignition power wire.

+1. Check the wiring diagram for source to the memory on radio. Probably fused with dome light....

i assume you've checked all fuses in end of dash and the power box next to the battery.

recheck the IOD fuse. (ignition off draw).

I have checked the fuses on the side of dash and the ones on the fender well next to battery and all seem not to be broken. The stereo is after market and it was there when I got the truck, it works fine with the key on. It just is weird I have nothing until the key is on. Dome, maplights, cargo lights etc..

I agree, the radio is not wired correctly. Need to address that issue first. Might fix the other problem.

Well I did find that the stereo was improperly wired even with the after market plug in harness, I also opened both my eyes and found the IOD fuse had blown (ugh) Everything works great now.. Once again DF and its members came through!!!! Thank You!
