my 99 2500 is making noise at the rear it only does it when going 1 to 9 miles an hour it will do it in reverse and with brakes applied and gets worse when you turn the wheel I was told that I should change the fluid and add the mopar additive and that the additive is a must or it will keep doing it even if you change the oil can somebody tell me if this is right and give me the proper procedures of doing this and if you think something else is wrong with the rear it drives on the interstate doing 70 with no problems but when pulling out and going slow it feels like it is binding and and makes a thug sound

Well - I was low on differential fluid, filled it up and put in the additive - still have the problem. After I get some cash I will take it in to a trans shop to find out what the problem is - sigh.

Default 99 dodge 2500 rear noise

well I took off the cover and it looked like foam inside on top off the oil and on the gears and clutches got break cleaner and sprayed the clutches and gears then refilled with 75 / 90 full synthetic gear oil and added the mopar additive I had to go on a 2500 mile trip with it, it was still doing it for the first 800 miles when ever I went slow pulling in for gas then I pulled in again and it was gone I put on about 3500 miles since and towing a trailer and still no noise ,I think the clutches were dirty and was causing the noise it would probably be better to pull the clutches so you can get in between them to clean them but it also seams to work doing it the way I did it and driving it for a while, sad thing is my water pump started leaking in Mississippi ,only leaked when I would stop so I kept driving and checking the fluid when I pulled in for gas, it only took half a gallon all the way home to pa 1175 miles it wouldn't leak when driving on the interstate but would poor out when idling and when you shut it off but the old mopar didn't let me down it got me home
