Default AC on when in Bi-level mode???

Hi, I have have always wondered if my AC is supposed to be on while in the vent/floor mode?? Does everyone else's pickup do this also? If mine is the only one, does anyone know how to fix it. Maybe I'm just weird but I don't like my AC on any more than it has to be, and it would be nice if my compressor wasn't running with it on Bi-level. Thanks.

Are you talking about the floor/defrost? The a/c compressor (sp?) will cycle whenever the defrost is on, whether its just defrost or floor/defrost. Even with the heater.

Yeah, I know the AC compresser always runs with defrost. I'm talking the vent/floor mode.

What is the temp on? If it's on cold it might run, if it's on hot it will still cycle once in a while .

It cycles on no matter what temp it is on.

I have noticed that mine does the same thing. I turned it to that setting to get some fresh air in the cab that was not cooled. I was a little suprised when it started getting ice cold. Do not know if it is normal, but I am in the same boat as you

If its cycling but you have plenty of heat it's normal. Blowing cold would be a problem.

I guess that answers my questions. I was just wondering if cycling on was normal. I just figured that the compressor should only be running on Max AC, AC, and defrost. Thanks guys!

Like you, my A/C cycles on when bi-level is selected.

As far as I can tell, the only setting it doesn't come on in is top level.

My 99 Ram does the same thing and I actually run bi-level almost exclusively. Since it keeps me cool in the summer and warm in the winter I haven't done much thinking about it, but I have wondered at times why this was so...
