3.9 to 5.2 swap... Final questions
I have an 01 Ram 1500 3.9 5-speed that I'm looking at swapping a 5.2 into. I have read through many threads for info regarding this, but I still have some last minute questions before I go for it.
For the swap, all I will need is the engine, computer, and wiring harness. Is this correct? Everything else bolts up from the 3.9?
My truck is an 01 2wd manual, and the computer is from an 01 4wd auto. Will I need to get it reprogrammed? If so, how difficult/costly is that?

Cool. I will look into that. From what I keep reading, everything else is basically a straight swap? Wish I could find someone that actually did the swap.
OK, new problem I'm running into. My truck has the NV3500 manual trans; the donor 5.2 engine was from an automatic.
What will I have to do so the 5.2 will work with the manual trans?

You might need a flywheel for a 5.2 (not sure on that, and a pilot bushing). But I do know you most likely will need a crank sensor for the 5.2 with a manual tranny.
To explain this just a little better, the 3.9 flywheel might work with the 5.2. It might not though, so be prepared...
You can get the computer reflashed by B&G and they can change computer to a manual tranny. Here is their web site: http://www.bgchrysler.com/
