I have a 1995 ram 1500 318 auto with the transmission seals blown out and I was ask if I could us a 1998 transmission.
Does anyone know if the 98 transmission will fit my old 1995 truck?

RH might be drivable on '98 truck but wouldn't have OD or TCC , and since the PCM doesn't know what the heck is going on there will be fault light present. And because RE trans has electronic governor, it most definitely won't work on older truck. I don't think that you could even get past first gear.
There's also some difference in length
They don't work either way around. RE has 8-pin connector and speed sensor on OD unit, whereas RH has 3-pin connector and no speed sensor. So naturally both have their own harness and PCM.

And it has to also be out of a 4x4.
