How to install a 2nd battery.
I did search for this but i was unable to see a basic instruction set with a diagram so here i am. I love my dodge & i know this forum is full of skilled men who know what they are talking about - which is why i ask this here instead of another forum. I am not working on a dodge but a 92 gmc full size Belonging to a local pastor that i help out sometimes. He installed a western snowplow yesterday on it. Any help you guys can give me here would be appreciated.
Get another battery tray from diesel truck, IIRC gasser has battery on a RH corner, so you need tray for drivers corner. Then you just hook up the cables, negative to engine block, and positive cable to a positive post on a original battery. It would be wise to get two new batteries, because the old one tends to "eat" the new one rapidly.
HeikIlm is correct. You want to keep the same voltage (12v), but increase the capacity (amperage) available. To do this you'd hook the batteries up in parallel as shown on this webpage
Since the negative posts on auto batteries are typically tied to the chassis/engine block you can use the engine block as a junction point to tie the negative terminals together.
