Please help this is getting expensive
I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 i just bought, I had to add a catalytic converter and two O2 sensors that it didn't have and now when i turn it on i can drive a few blocks and then it doesn't want to shift in to second for about a minute or so then it kicks in and everything is fine. I already replaced what a diagnostic machine told me to it said i needed a new governor pressure sensor and after i replaced it, the trucks still doing the same thing. If any one has any ideas it sure would be appreciated thanks, Wes
Yup, and remove the Gov body also and clean it. The solenoid is more common to go bad/get clogged. If it does the same thing after replacing it, then you'll atleast know you have a different problem. And get one of these to replace it. http://www.doghousediesel.com/catalog/i307.html

Yea I know, plenum is probably bad, but since we know the cat is not clogged, it has nothing to do with his shifting problems right now.

I have beat the dog spit out of the tranny pan on my Acclaim-driving over the extremely rough and rock-strewn road to my home site, so it leaks about a quart a month. I know it's time to add tranny fluid when, on cool mornings, it won't shift into 4th for about a minute. Then, after warming up, it shifts normally until the next cool morning or I add a quart of tranny fluid. Not trying to be insulting, but have you checked the tranny fluid when the engine and tranny are HOT and the tranny is in neutral?
