Default New tire mistake maybe

I have been on the market for new tires for some time now. Current tires are ProComp M/T 33x12.50R17. Searching for weeks I noticed tire prices a really increased from the last time I needed them. Trying to cut cost I purchased a set of Nitto Terra Grappler A/T for $987 shipped from www.simpletire.com (not advertising) but great place for tires, cheapest I've found. The size I bought was 295/70R17 typically a 33" tire only cheaper. Well I got them today and noticed the tag on them said recommended rim width 8"-9.5". Auuugh I have 10" wide rims. Is there going to be ANY issues putting these tires on my rims.

You can run them...barely, but the sidewalls will be bulged in towards the tread surface quite a bit. I ran 285/70r17s on 9 wides and that was right at the limit IMO. Any narrower tire wouldnt have worked and not to mention look retarded lol.

Default Measuring Rim Width

Ok, with researching the correct way to measure rim width. Rim width is measured from where the tire bead sits to where the bead sits. This is what tire manufactures uses when determining recommended rim widths. I had measured the overall rim width, outside edge to outside edge, which was right around 10". Also searching Pro Comp website because I have Pro Comp rims, although I could not find the exact same model, I had noticed that all there 17" diameter rims only came in 8", 8.5", or 9" rim widths. I think I'm ok now. It will still be a couple weeks til I get them mounted and put on, waiting for the rest of the new suspension to arrive. I will post pics when I do.

Wow. Never buy based on price. Cheapest <> Quality.

^^^ Agreed. Saving money by purchasing the same product at a lower price is for losers!
