checking and changine transfer case fluid?
how do you check the transfer case fluid. I have a slow leak where it connects to the drivshaft in the rear. That black seal is sticking out like 2 inches and there is always a drop of oil on there. Also, what oil does it take.
I have a 01 ram sport 4x4 with the anti-spin in the rear. Also, this truck is auto.

You check it by removing the filler plug -- full is to the bottom of the opening. It takes ATF, but synthetic 10W30 works and is preferred by some. Lots of Jeep dudes run the synthetic 10W30 motor oil in there with no problems.
the protruding black tube about 2-3 inches long is just a rubber sleeve, fit into a slot on the actual seal, a drop or two is normal. puddle or wet area slung to both sides indicates need to replace the seal.
drain plug and fill plug is on the rear side of t-case. 10mm hex (not 3/8) tip: remove the fill plug first to make sure it doesn't strip and leave you high and dry.

That could explain alot for me... i have a leak somewhere around my transfer case... the other day i drained the fluid and put in 2 qts and still not full....
There are two seals, one on the t-case input shaft and the other on the transmission output shaft. And the chamber between the two has a hole on it, so if either one has a leak it will leak outside.
I just had crawl under my truck to make sure, that drain/fill plugs both accept 30mm socket/box end wrench, and they also have some weird 8-point, torx-like head.
