Default Question On Wheel Bearing Hub Unit Bolts

replacing ball joints on my 99 1500 4x4, when taking the wheel bearing hub off one of the 3 bolts that go through the spindle into the hub snapped, tried looking for replacement bolt at Lowes and Home Depot, no luck there.

Has anyone else bought replacements for these bolts before? Any heads up on exact sizes would be appreciated. Later this morning I'm going to check NAPA and as a last resort hit up a stealership.

You won't find one at a hardware store. Just bought one myself.

thanks for the link, would hate to have to order it on line since I really want it back together today, man didnt expect that sort of price either yikes. I know one time I had to replace one of theses on a Grand Cherokee and I found a grade 8 bolt at a hardware store.

Lower rear bolt on my truck was sticking out about 1 1/2" when I pulled the hub. Been driving it like that since I bought it and didn't know it. Bolt was very bent. Have no idea how anyone could bend this bolt as bad as it was, as tough as they are. Threads weren't engaged at all. Looks like whoever did it put the bent bolt in place with a hammer. Other indications that PO or whoever previously worked on this truck was an idiot.

ayup, granite stater for sure.

Was at a local JY last week and all the Rams there were in rough shape, with my luck I would have fought as hard getting a couple bolts out or end up breaking them like I did the ones I needed to replace ended up grabbing a couple bolts from Stealership, the last two they had infact. Sure paid too much but it was a fair value for a couple hours of my time.

I found mine at a hardware store... when i did my dads this past week there was 1 bolt that was just completely missing.. Only 3 of the 4 were there and that caused the other 3 to be stressed out and the threads were a little chewed up.. We got replacements from a place called Fastenal since the hardware stores didnt have them this time around.. If a junkyard dont work for you try to find a place that deals with fasteners locally..

yeah my wife thought of Fastenal... unfortunately they weren't open Sat and Sun and I needed to put it back together for Monday so I bit the bullet and went to stealership parts dept.
