Default Good Price?

right now i have a dakota and i am looking for something bigger and was jsut curisous is this a good price in your opinion. the truck is a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with the off road package and the sport package. it has the 5.2v8 and leather interior. also it is white. they want $7800 for it with 93500 miles. what do you think on the price and the truck.

That truck looks absolutely squeaky clean for a truck in the rust belt. Maybe a tiny spot of rust on the bottom of the driver door?

But even with all those options and it being an Off Road Edition I think $7800 is too much. You can shop for 2nd Gens diesels for another 2 or 3 grand.

I'd try to get him to come down a little.

Oh, this should really be in the General Discussion Section....

That truck is in pretty good condition with all the goodies, but does have rust bubbles on the bumper and the door. Even if it didn't I wouldn't pay 7800 for it. I'd check KBB and Edmunds because I doubt it'd be much over 5k.

Even here, where trucks are popular, a rust free rig like that is about $4000 to $5000. And that is in excellent condition.

if you want a 2nd gen, that's the holy grail. it has factory 4.10 gears, which is worth about an extra $1000-2000. also a 2 inch factory lift. its also got low miles. i doubt you'll find one nicer.

i'll bet you can get it for $6500-7000, especially without the ramp (assuming you have no use for the ramp).

emphasize the cracked dash repair is about $1200.
i didn't look at the link for the ramp, but i'm sure its very expensive.

i have no use for the ramp and the dash was my only big concern with the truck. i would get the rust fixed to at the local body shop too if i bough the truck. i looked up the ramp and it bolts down to the bed in the four corners so i was also concerned where they drilled through the bed if there would be rust.

to dhvaughan: i know the truck is the holy grail that is specifically why i am looking at it even through i live over 100 miles away from it. i am hoping my parents will let me see it this weekend( i am only 17) because i have the money waiting and it is so nice.

Expect to spend about $2000 getting the rust repaired correctly. And if you can do the work yourself on the dash, a replacement is under $300 for the part alone.

Talk him doen enough to take care of the problems.

Nice looking ram. Minimum rust, but its gonna get worse being on the east coast rust belt. I'd say 5,500-6,000 tops. Dash is a huge PIA and expensive to do if you can't do it yourself. You gotta check the plenum gasket, about $6-800 for labor alone at shop. And rust issue. Check to make sure if they have serviced the trans. Make sure it shifts good, fluid smells good not burnt.

Tranny rebuild is $1,800, it usually happens to everyone at some point...

There's one for sale here, a long ways away from you, in really nice shape (except the tailgate) no idea about the interior, for $3400
