4WD Engagement Problems. What is this hose?
Previous owner more or less chopped out the a/c components.
Truck has not shifted into 4WD since I got it during spring. After zip-tying the vaccuum lines on the actuator which were loose I got the 4WD light to come on once, but I don't think it engaged.
I bought a new actuator but before removing the old one I noticed there is a large hose running out of the center of the actuator and up into the passenger side engine bay. Mine has been cut and capped off
What does this hose usually connect to and what is it for?
In the pic it is the one over the wheel well that is capped.

That's the differential breather, and it is in factory location and trim. Nothing to worry about there.
Chances are very good that if the 4WD lamp in the instrument panel illuminated, the truck was in four wheel drive.
