chunks of metal found in rear end?
Changed it today using royal purple 75w-90 and the oil in the rear was really back with lots of metal flakes and two huge chunks of metal similar to the size of a quater but more oval shaped. Will get a pic up later. just wanted to know if anyone had this problem before?
There are no c clips for the lsd clutch pack, retainer's yes. C Clips are to hold the axle in place ( not slide out)
Your lsd clutch pack is toast. Keep driving it and it will get very costly to fix if not already. Clutch packs are around $100, going to need new side and spider gears as well. The gear carrier will have to come out of the truck to fix the clutches. With all the other little bits floating around in there best bet is to find a new different style of lsd or locker.

There are a few types you can get, but before we get into that is this truck a 4wd or 2wd how do you use it? DD off-road, mud, snow, ice you know. I have a Detroit Locker in mine, its very aggressive not best as a DD unit.
These would be the parts you need to replace.

I use it for work as a daily driver. I do construction and some times have to commute an hour away to the job site. Last couple of winters there was a lot of snow and used the 4x4 a couple of times since no one plows in the neighborhood I live in. i don not go hardcore off -roading but have gone a couple times. I also tow a boat twice a year.
