Default Help please!

Ok here is the run down my causin got a truck like mine i have a 96 dodge ram but his is a 94 5.2 1500 4x4 ok we did the spark plug wires because the old ones were arcing but if u stop on the gas it makes a loud popping/grinding noise but if you ease on the gas it can go up to 5000 easy with out popping or grinding i was thinking it was a bad cat or torque converter but i need some ideas so i can help him i feel bad because its his only vehicle thanks for the help

did you change the plugs, wires, and cap? but i cant picture why it would be your cat. where does it sound like its coming from? is it your transmission? i dont think it has anything to do with your engine then, it could be a torque converter or your trans needs some servicing. also when i drive my truck i do not get all the way up to 5k if i am goin easy, if i get on the gas it willl sounds like you have some trans problems..how is the trans fluid?

Itll get up to 5 grand in park but when u stomp on it pops really loud like back firing it sounds like his tranny is making the noise

It wont get over like 3000 it acts like its starving for fuel and it pops really loud sorry if doesnt help im trying my best to describe it

Was it doing this before you changed wires? If not,, I would suspect you got some wires crossed up. If it does this in park then it should have nothing to do with the transmission.

is the engine misfiring or is the trans poping? he is right if you crossed some wires your car will start but run not good, when i replaced my wires i got a couple screwed up and it was misfiring
