Default hydro assist, 46s, built 47re

hey guys, been awhile! been running my huge ram as my dd with zero problems for about a year now and its great! just got my new michelin xml 46s, plus my 2x8 hydro ram and lines. going to be starting the hydro assist later today, getting it prepped for the extra load of the 46s.

you guys want a thread/pics of this project? lol just want to make sure there is interest before i go through the trouble of keeping thread updated lmao.

i have already begun gathering parts to build my 47re, is there a good thread/place to go for consolidated info on the best way to beef that tranny up? thanks guys

the 46s fit perfect, so exited! i placed my steering box port locations with a baby drill bit then took it to my buddys machine shop along with my new pittman arm. got it tapped for 3/8 npt fittings! went beautifully.

heres where i ran into a problem, i thought the lines would clear coming straight out, was def wrong....

so i got some 45 fittings and voila, guess i didnt take a pic of that, o well.

here is the completed steering box all put together with the new pitmann arm drilled out for 3/4 bolt for the heim on the drag link.

this is my ram location, its really the only place i could put it. and i dont mind having it exposed since it will never see rocks, i decided to run the lines down so that i could have the ram mounted higher and more inline with the tie rod. i will bleed it out just sitting on the ground so the ports will be up for bubbles. then mount it. shouldnt be a problem.

and lastly the only place i had been worried about tire clearance was the front of the rear quarters. so i stuck the rear wheels on, and no problems. i still think i will bring the rear up another 2 inches since its pretty bulldogged.

only problem i ran into was putting one friggin gasket in on the wrong side of the input shaft so as soon as i built up pressure it pissed out front the input shaft! o well. fixed that and putting back together today.

the hydro assist is amazing! lock to lock at idle with my pinky on the 46s! and those things ride like a dream, could not believe how smooth the truck is on those tires. totally sold, never rolling anything but xmls on that truck again. it is super sensitive while cruising so that is something to get used to for sure.

input shaft is still leaking so going to tear the whole box apart again and do a full rebuild on it. picked up a full gasket kit for it yestersday. then i should be 100% done. but heres a couple of pics of how she sits now.

the benefit of the project totally outweighed the work load. really is an amazing system.

Wow.

Nice build, what tires are those? Military transport truck tires? I've seen them on the trucks at the bases I've been at....

Also, PLEASE tell me all your lights are aimed properly....

yes it is a monster, there is very limited laws on a rig over 5000 in fl. headlights measured at the middle are 58 inches from ground. thats the only one lol. cops never flipped his lights on me yet, with the 46s i am over that but not to much. but it doesnt look as big with the tires that fit right!

they are michelin xml military. yes they are the ones on the transport trucks. and they ride like a caddy! love them.

my lights are aimed down, not like the do $h!+ anyway lol. my kcs are the only way i see at night.
