diesel exhaust on gas truck?
hey guys, wondering if anyone has ever seen or heard of putting a 4 or 5 inch diesel exhaust on a gas truck? my dads got a 2500 with the hemi, with a flowmaster 40 truck muffler on it right now and the resonator removed and the truck just doesnt breath right still. Sounds great at lower rpms but if you give a decent amount of gas the truck sounds like its taking a crap trying to squeeze the exhaust out of the small muffler. one of my buddies used to have a 5 inch banks exhaust on his f150 had a deep, mean tone to it, just wondering if anyones knows of someone doing this on a dodge?
Have you considered that it might be sucking against a restrictive intake?
Flowmasters are crap, anyway, in my entirely too arrogant opinion. They're designed to make noise, not to flow well.

+1 Unreg.. chokemasters choke..
Just like there is a point of too restrictive, as in too small, there is also too open, which counterintuitively, is also too restrictive.. pulses of exhaust cool too quickly and create a barrier the pulse behind it has to punch through.. whallah, restriction..
The only time pipes above 3" can be used effectively is if the exhaust is silly short..

magnaflow is better then the flowmaster. meant to flow and sound nice, not all sound like the flowmasters. or just get a cherry bomb if you think you need to flow more. 3in. is good to about 400hp and then it would be dual 3in.
