Ok so I hope this works...I posted already about adjusting my gear box but still having play.Im a bit ocd so I took some viids is this much play normal or not? It's about an inch...when I move the steering wheel the steering shaft will also move but the tires will not till I nudge it a bit maybe another 1/4 of an inch.I was gonna order the rock solid steering fix not sure if I should now.My buddy says a inch or so is normal in some trucks especially with bigger tires...what do you guys think?Im soon stressed out here lately because my baby brother just died a few days ago&if something needs fixed Id like to get to it to get my mind off of this.

I'm sorry to hear about our brother. Man, that's tough.
Find the spot in the system at which something moves but the thing it connects to doesn't. That's where the problem lies. If the column bushing is shot, the column shaft will move but the steering shaft won't because the whole shebang is just shifting sideways. If that's not happening, the steering shaft rotates right along with the column shaft, but the pitman arm doesn't move, that's slop in the steering gearbox. If the pitman arm moves right along with the steering shaft... hopefully you get the idea.
What you'll usually see when a Saginaw box develops slop is that you've got play near center, but halfway around to the max (either right or left) there's practically no slop at all. If you see that, the box is a goner. Catch it early enough and it can be rebuilt, let it go too long and it might be beyond hope.

Check the pitman arm, intermediate shaft. Pop the hood, reach down on the shaft past the master cylinder and see if it moves up and down where the shaft looks like it goes up into the firewall, if thats bad which it probably is on and old ram, google Rocksolid ram steering fix. Cheap, easy, and takes a lot of the play and loose feeling out of the wheel.
I'm going with bad box. Just tightening that screw usually does nothing. The proper way to adjust the box is in this link. But even that won't help if it's simply worn out.

That's the way I did it,Should have been more specific .I measured today its actually a bit under 1&1/4 in of play...closer to an inch.If need be Ill order a red head just with my everything that's going on &those costs then both my kids bdays &holidays coming up don't wanna get it of not needed. We flushed it no shavings coming out...when I do it per procedure it'll make it wanna pull to one side .

The box is shot, nuff said about that. You might consider getting one of these if you don't have a plow mount. Will make the box last much longer. And good choice on the Red-Head instead of one from a parts store.

Just ran it to an off road shop&they said the steering box seems fine...that my track bar is bad&that my timing cover has a small leak....So can I just replace the bushing that is loose or do I have to replace the whole thing? If I can get away with just doing the brushing Id rather do so seeing when I did the shocks & tie rod sleeves
