Oil pressure dropping
@clipper 77 yeah I have the 4x4 I had about 3 -4 inches of room. What was your truck doing ? Same things? I didn't even have a problem till I changed my oil. My guess is the guy before me was using cheap oil, and the corrosion built up over time. I installed a mechanical gauge the first time I changed the oil pressure switch that's how I knew it wasn't my switch or harness.
My pressure gauge was fluctuating slightly, so I think it is the sender.
My oil pan was leaking like a sieve, so I ordered a new gasket and pretty much had to look at the pickup tube when I dropped it. Thats where I found the partial clog.
The stock gauge is still dancing in the cluster, but I have a new sender for it, as well as a mechanical gauge.
The sender will be getting replaced the next time I do the oil, and I will hook up the mechanical at the same time.
I;m not too worried about the pressure gauge dancing, the motor sounds fine and the truck doesn't really get driven too much.
I think cheap oil could make a difference.
I run Mobil 1 10w30 full synth with an M204 filter. What are you running for lube?

on my way home tonight I noticed my oil pressure dancing maybe 5psi up and down (97 360) I just changed the oil last night and I have been using Mobil 5w30 and a fram filter since a I got the truck a year ago..it don't use any oil or make any unusuall noises 156xxx miles. only danced while I was driving after I got on it...4000rpm at idle it was steady and in park at 1500 it was steady around 40 psi

My gauge was dropping all the way down and I wasn't getting oil pressure. There is no oil pump in my truck. It's a 01 2500 v10. There's like two gears or rotors in the top of the motor like where the timing is. If you look in the thread there's a pic of it. So if it wasn't my pickup tube that was going to have to be checked and maybe replaced. I'm just glad it was. It also could of been bad wiring in the harness
