Welcome to DF.

Go back over everything you touched and find the thing you didn't put back where it belongs, or broke in the process.

I didn't have to take out starter, and did not unhook anything. Just took out oil pan, replaced pump and pickup tube. Replaced oil pan gasket and replaced pan. Now it turnes over but does not fire. I cant find anything i broke.

does your 97 have the fuel pressure test port on the rail. check pressure and/or listen for fuel pump whine when ignition is turned on.

shade tree method for testing fuel pressure. put out cigarette. place rag over fuel pressure test port and press the little valve stem. high pressure gas will squirt out. catch in rag and clean up. avoid fire....

check for spark at the plugs.
check for 12v at the coil.
