Default does limited slip only work when going forward ?

This might seem like a stupiud question, but yesterday I got somewhat stuck, I tried to back out and only the Right rear tire spun, once I went forward both spun, I ****ed into 4x and ended up backing out but found myself asking why only one tire spun when I was in reverse.

Can someone give me a brief education on limited slip diff's.

As per the Dodge spec sheet, the dealer tells me I most definatly have limited slip although they call it an anti spin rear differential

Thanks,

Hmmmm I would think it would work the same in both directions. Not 100% sure. Might have to find some mud and try this myself....

Mine works in reverse. Keep in mind that a limited slip is not a locker. So if one tire is getting a lot of traction, and one is getting very little traction, the tire with very little traction is going to spin, while the tire that is getting a lot of traction sits still.

Thanks for the reply, that makes sense as one tire might as well have been on ice. I should have tried putting on the brake a bit and seen if that helped ??? Do you think it would have ?

Wait, i'm confused. How is that different then the way an open differential behaves when one tire has traction, and one doesn't?

Hence my question on a brief education. I was sure that I knew how these things worked, but I guess not.
