So it wouldn't throw a code? I've never done a compression test before. Ill have to find someone who is more mechanically inclined than myself.

The comp testing tool is $40. It's not hard to do, info on how to do it might come with the tool or just a search on the web and you will find the info. If you can remove the spark-plugs you can do this test yourself.

I'm having a friend check this week or next. Thanks for the input. Do you know if a bad steering shaft will affect my alignment. My alignments off my passengers side front right axel started leaking and the shaft is loose. I'm at 200k. Can I get alignment with replacing steering shaft it has like maybe 1/4" play the most. The shaft is like 3 bills too much.

getting an alignment won't be effected by play in the shaft, but I'd fix the axle 1st..I have play as well but it still is good as far as the alignment goes

Anyone with a limited income should not own a Ram. And they will not be able to buy or rent test equipment for that matter. The only choice to try and save money is to go to the local U Pull It.

The limited income is only for a few more months. My wife is on her last round of chemotherapy. For those who offered their expertise, thank much so much. I believe ill finally be able to get it fixed the right way this time. And for those with their 2 cents, well you know where it belongs.

Do as you will, but trust me when I say nothing was directed at you. It's just seems or is that our trucks are money pits..such as mine. Good thoughts and best wishes to you and your wife!!

Maybe you should have stated that to begin with. I have one less foot due to cancer, so I know all about that.
And as, It's Me Patt stated "Do as you will, but trust me when I say nothing was directed at you. It's just seems or is that our trucks are money pits..such as mine. Good thoughts and best wishes to you and your wife!! "

Hence the at the end of my statement. Someone needs to calm down.
