Leaking tranny lines
Summit Racing has a Hayden 2106 remote filter setup for $35.90 shipped (ebay), it does not come with a filter but I like to choose my own so that was OK. I too want to plumb it the correct way so am watching this post to confirm. Thanks
fluid can only flow one way through the filter: from IN to OUT. it will not flow from OUT to IN, so if you plumb it backwards, you kill the trans.
if you have any doubt about the flow of the transmission fluid, disconnect the lines and put the ends in a bucket. crank the truck and have a helper shift to neutral for a moment. the AT pump will come on and squirt fluid out the pressure line. LABEL it.
if you want to put in a cooler, here's more pics.

In case anyone is interested in a filter setup that has fittings that are 90 degree rather than straight up here is a setup. It also takes the same filter that the 5.9 gas motor does (not included in kit). More info. in my previous post.

that looks cool, I noticed the input side is on the left, I just got one from Ebay that had 90s already on it but the input is on the right.
I'm have the same problem with my 2000 Ram 1500. From what I am reading, I can eliminate the check valve completely from the cooling line? What happens when the Torque Converter drains?
If your fixing leaking lines I highly recomend installing a remote tranny filter on the fenderwell then it will eliminate any worries of torque converter draining. It can be done for under $50 including ATF hose, clamps and filter. You won't be sorry.
