Default cheap and helpful performance mods for 3.9l V6 Ram 1500

Hey guys, are there any cheap mods but ones that work for performance on the 3.9l V6 Magnum engines? I know about cold air intake and stuff, but isn't that kinda pointless since the Magnum system is basically a stock CAI anyway? Looking for some things I can do, yes I've already done new plugs. But I should get performance wires, and a new distributor and rotor. Although, maybe I should wait until this spring if I can find a 4x4 2nd gen Ram with a 318 in it.

Thoughts?

There is nothing that will improve performance that is cheap. Stay away from such things a throttle body spacers and other snale oil products. Keeping up the maintenance on it will do as much as anything within a reasonable price.

Performance costs money. Lots of options for v8's but they do cost accordingly.

FINALLY someone gets it. 3.9 is not worth hopping up. Sell it to the next poor sucker who thinks they will get 20 mpgs with it and buy a 318 with a 5 speed and play with that one. FYI I get 14.5 with my 5.9 4x4 2500 with a stick on 35" tires. And it can do burnouts.

Yeah, seems like people just don't understand most of the time that tha Magnum system is already a CAI and it's not worth it especially on a V6. For my next truck, I want either a 360 or a 318 with a 5 speed. I really missed having a 5 speed. This was my first truck and it was cheap, but my dad used to have a Jeep Cherokee 5 speed, and that's what I learned on when I was 14 or 15 years old. That was so fun. I really want one again, but I love my truck but I understand that there just isn't any upgrades that I can do that are cheap. I might as well just sell it in the summer (what do you think I could get for it?) and get a V8 Ram.

Oh...my V6 will do burnouts too...just lame single wheel ones. Haha

The gain realized by an aftermarket CAI has nothing to do with air temperature -- it's the reduction of pumping losses that does the trick.

don't waste any money on a V6 in a full size truck.
do a basic tune up for best mpg. fix plenum if its pinging. then stop.

drive it, save your money, upgrade later.
