Locking and unlocking is good. That is what is should do based on speed/load. If you have to push pedal pretty far to kick down there may be one of two issues.

It seems that throttle cable on these tends to stretch. Check above gas pedal to see if excess cable is hangin out. Then, go to the FAQ/DIY section and download the free service manual. Did I mention "FREE?" Look for the instructions to adjust the Throttle Valve Cable. It is on passenger side of throttle body and goes down to transmission. Check/repair/adjust these and you should take care of the problem.

Welcome to DF.

That is normal. The OD on these trucks combined with the 3.55 gears is not very good with holding speeds on an incline. Meant for cruising on mostly flat terrain. If I know I am coming up on a hill, I hit the OD button so it doesn't kick in and out of OD.

Still sounds like a TPS issue...jumps 200 or 300 rpms quickly, whether using cruise or not.

Check trans fluid level also. Do it in Neutral and not in Park.

Have you gotten anywhere with your issue?? It sounds like my truck is having the same problem. I have changed the TPS but mine is also throwing a TCC code, P1740 I think if I remember correctly?? I canged the TCC solenois and also the trans output sensor. Does anyone have any other ideas on the problem other than a rebuild???
