Default Upgrading Braking System

I've been pondering on upgrading the braking system on the Truck aside from new pads and shoes. I've read a thread in regards to replacing the 1500 rear wheel cylinders with 3500 cylinders, apparently this works well and improves the rear brakes. For the front I have no desire spending 6-7 hundred on a big brake kit, however keep hearing that slotted and drilled front rotors have similar effect as the BBK. Anyone have incite on slotted rotors, are they worth it, do they perform better than OEM as far as braking?

Slotted, not drilled, can provide better braking performance under hard braking when outgassing of the friction material becomes a factor in braking performance. Drilling is never called for on a street vehicle that cannot benefit from the weight reduction which is the only benefit drilling conveys.

I'm fixin' to catch a load of 5h17 for daring to say that drilling brings no benefit... Which won't change that fact that it's a load of 5h17.

So all that is interchangeable, will I need caliper brackets as well, obviously rotors and pads for it as well.

Don't waste your money on drilled rotors unless you plan on running your truck in road races.

No road racing planned, what about slotted, will they help slow down bigger tires vs OEM

Under hard braking where gas pressure develops due to friction material outgassing, slotted rotors will vent that gas pressure and provide better braking performance by allowing more of the friction material to remain in contact with the rotor.

Deja vu?

in my experience ive had the slotted rotors warp within a month on my dads 08 silverado and on a 07 malibu my friend has. so just a warning dunno if something was done wrong, but to pay extra for something that will warp just aint worth it.

I've had slotted rotors on my 96 for over 3 years with no warping.
When I went to yhr 2500 light duty calipers it made a very good improvement.
They were bolt on, no other parts required.

Cool, I might do the 2500 calipers, but first comes a new power brake booster, it's been hissing for a week or so now.
