There are two adjustments, one on the outside of the trans case, the other, underneath the filter inside the trans.
IIRC, the 1st/reverse band is location outside the case, and the band adjustment for the other 2 gears are in the pan.

Do you have the 2001 Ram Factory Service Manual? If not, go to the FAQ section and download it. It's free and a huge help.

Basically you torque it to spec, then back off so many turns, then tighten the locknut.

Hello,

I have a buddy that just did a conversion from a getrag to a nv4500. He found a company Smart Parts Automotive. They got him the transmission with a full 5th gear fix (mainshaft with extended splines and the lock nut). They also had the advanced adapter conversion kit for like 357.00. He paid around 1050.00 for the transmission. I would look into them he seems to be very happy with the conversion. Here is a link to there page. http://www.smartpartsauto.com/manual...500_dodge.html

Having transmission problems of my own, Looking into finding a part'er around here. I am having rough shifts into and out of reverse, and it seems to be skipping second and going straight to third. I have the FSM, but have not tried adjusting the bands yet. Fluid is full, and clean, any other suggestions before I drain for a band adjustment? Also @ beginningjockey, do you have a build thread for your swap to an automatic? Thanks.
