Hello all my 96 dodge ram is having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd you have to let off the gas for it to shift into 2nd gear any idea what this could be?

It could be almost anything. From throttle cable adjustment, seals, governor, front band not applying, burnt clutches or valve body. Have you removed the pan and inspect for debris in the pan? I will move your post to the 2nd Gen Ram section. You'll get more response there.
