Default TC lock up mod

Hey all, I saw somewhere on the internet about a mod to make your TC lock up whenever you wanted by a switch or something. Has anyone done this to their truck? If so how and did you like it? Will it potentially hurt the truck?? I am asking then because I think my TC is going bad and I didnt know if it would help it last just a bit longer for me to save up $$$ for a rebuild.

Either way, save up for the rebuild and get some nice HD parts put in there.

Personaly Ive never seen it done on a gas, not saying it hasnt been done though. A lot of the diesel guys do it though. I dont know how well it would work on a gasser.

I guess I didnt pay attention to Gas or Diesel. I am just really trying to prolong what I think is a bad tranny.

It will not prolong anything....If it is getting time for a rebuild, start saving $.

Thanks for all the info. I was just hopping it might help make the TC last a bit longer since it seems that the issue with my tranny is the the TC. I think it is not locking up like it should and slipping between locked and unlocked. I think that is causing wear in my TC and causing it to fail. I thought if it was locked up all the time manually if might help the wear and help me get another month or so before I get the rebuild. Don't know if it would help at all but thought it might be worth a try.

You can only lock it after its in second if you leave it locked in first or when you make a stop your truck will stall and I think it's really bad for it. Atleast that's how it is in a cummins

I see, I was wondering how bad it is. I'll probably just hold off.
