Question 2001 ram 1500 transmission noise.

I have an 01 dodge ram 1500 4x4 automatic. It has sat for about 2 months. I went to drive it today and it sounds like the transmission is whining when u rev it up or drive it. does not do in in reverse . does it in neutral and park if u rev it up and all forward gears. I checked the fluid and it is good. I also drove it down the road and it shifted in all gears no slipping or anything. Any ideas thanks. I was looking to sell it but don't want to if there is a problem. Thanks

Question 2001 ram 1500 transmission noise.

01 ram 1500 4x4 5.2 automatic. It has sat a few months. I started it to drive today and in the tranny it sounds like a bad water pump or alternator whine. Does it in neutral park and all forward gears. Does get louder with increased engine speed. Does not seem to do it in reverse. Checked the fluid in neutral and it is good. It did not do this when I parkd it. Any ideas thanks.

Did you check fluid when the transmission was at operating temperature and in neutral?

And there didnt need to be 2 threads made for the same issue. Maybe a Mod can delete the other one

Don't rev it up? Sounds are hard to track down and describe over a forum. Did you check tran fluid while in neutral and hot, as suggested.

If you have no other driveability issues, I would not worry about it. My truck makes all kinds of noises. I just turn the radio up.

Sounds like possibly a clogged transmission filter I would try a filter and fluid change and see if it goes away did it make the noise before you parked it for the two months?

Transfercase still full? Mine growled and grumbled when it was low.

I just did a finger dip test on the top plug
