Default Tranny leak but not from pan

Took my 97 ram 116k for oil change today and mechanic said there is a leak where the tramsmission is mounted to the engine. He recommended a transmission shop to do the repair. What gaskets/parts would need to be replaced? Thanks for your input

determine whether the leak is oil (black/thick) or transmission fluid (reddish/thin).

if atf, the transmission would have to be removed and front seal replaced. expensive. determine whether its worth it or not vs topping of the trans about every 1-2-3-4 weeks.

if oil, you're in luck, as our engines have a 2 piece rear main which can be changed as a do-it-yourself, or a not too terribly expensive repair. but again, decide if its worth it, or just live with it an top it off.
