I know that the Fords are better in racing like this but I'm a Dodge boy at heart and can't quite bring myself to build one yet, so I'm really interested if anyone on here has any experiance with racing or prerunning a "stockish" Ram, prerunnning, or insight on whether it can be made good enough to be competitive, I haven't really had much luck searching online so i'm asking here.

I've found a few 2nd gen donors around my area that are running and under $800

I'm currently racing IMCA Modifieds and work very closely with a engine machine shop and chassis fab shop, so those parts won't be a problem, I'm mainly interested if the stock suspension parts I have to use will hold up?

Any info or links would be appreciated, I'm planning on starting a build as soon as my 2013 Modifed is finished and would love for it to be a Ram!!

 

Used to have a lot of fun in buggies and trucks. I never ran them in races, but their owners did. I have seen different stock classes run. I remember the Mint 400 having stock classes. The only thing I saw them struggling with were the whoop and mogul sections due to limited travel in their suspension. So as long as you can get a good rythm it looks fun. The ones I would see go over them out of sync were the best to watch because it was like a rodeo. I have driven a couple of prerunner fords and a toyota, but not a dodge. just never had the chance. If it were me I would worry most about steering and handling. If the truck is vague and wanders on the pavement, it will be worse in the dirt.
