Default Possible for fuel pump to go out over night?

98 Dodge Ram 1500

Last night I took it and filled the truck up. Ran fine and no signs of anything going out. The next morning the truck won't start. After I had time to look at it I determined there is spark, and of course air. So i decided to pour a little gas in the throttle body, and it starts right up for a couple seconds. Changed out the fuel pump relay and still nothing.

Can it really just go out over night, because if so. I now have a truck with 35 gallons of gas in the tank and a bad fuel pump.

Anything electrical can go out.. It could take some time to go or it can be in the matter of a quick trip into the store..

I've had two go out while driving down the road. One in a 1999 Chevy suburban, and one in my 1997 Ram 1500. They can go out anytime, anywhere, with or without warning.

I think the adding of fuel on an already weak pump shakes something loose and it just...well...dies!
