Default Need Help

1997, 5.2 truck will not crank, fuel pump is working. When I take battery cable off and put it back on it will crank. It might be a couple of days before it happens again. Anybody got any ideals whats wrong.

Thanks Doc

Are the battery terminals clean and tight? If yes, then check all your grounds and take the truck over to advance auto and get the battery and starter tested. Since it seems to be affected by messing with the battery cable, my feeling is that its an electrical issue somewhere.

Battery and starter are find . I think it has got something to do with resetting the computer chip or something. Anybody know anything about this. Thanks Doc

CRANK? as in the motor does not turn over or the motor won't start? And please, in the future refrain from using thread titles like "need help" in the tech section. Thanks and welcome to DF.

Will it start if you hold your foot on the pedal a little?
