And then WHAM! it hits you...heres a link to a .pdf...use menu...goto 4wd..then dodge...then model and BANG!

http://www2.dana.com/pdf/K350-1-DSSP.pdf

Now i just have to figure out how to tell the difference in cup size (other than with my hands hardyharhar.) may be a better way to say it is how to determine which cup size is on my truck...

i also recommend the Precision brand Super Strength greaseable. The front axle is part #377 and the drives shafts front and rear are i think #270. Rockauto website and Advance and Oreilly will all point you to the right numbers.

however - note that the Super Strength has a grease port in the cap, not in the cross - and there is NO ZERK in the cap, only a plug... so you must purchase a grease adapter, and a ZERK with a 3/8 NPT thread to make your own grease adapter.

you remove the plug (don't lose it). screw in your adapter. grease it. remove the adapter. reinstall the plug. its a little bit of a pain, but when you see the mass of the cross you say - good god what a u-joint.

adapter part number, from Advance or any parts store for a couple bucks: MTN2500-SOA (2500 is numeric, SOA is alphabetic)

Good deal...thanks for the details and the pics! I'm currently trying to figure out what size caps I got...looks like im either gonna have to buy both and return what doesnt fit or buy a dial caliper an pull one out to measure it.

I happen to have a surplus of zerks and an adapter already

I have external clips btw.

i don't think you need to know the size of the caps. look up the 1500 on rockauto and select front or rear drive shaft, 2wd vs 4 wd, 1500 vs 2500, front DS vs rear DS vs front axle, and you're done. if you then must know cap size, using whatever part number it points to, rockauto is good about listing the spec's, or go to the mfg's website.

the size of the caps is most likely related to front axle vs drive shaft. (very different) and 1500 vs 2500.

or just measure yours....

The steel and aluminum shafts also use different joints. Steel ones are inside snap rings and the aluminum ones are outside snap rings. The steel one I know uses the 7290 series joints.

Only parts stores close to me are NAPA and AUTOZONE unfortunately, Auto Zone only carries Duralast which does have a heavy duty model, they call it Duralast Gold, they say it is greasable an its only 15 bux but they came back with the 2 different sized cups,

Could be im making this more difficult than it needs to be but I'm a stickler for the details and then when i dont know something I tend to obsess on it until i do..

I appreciate all the input fellas, i hope to be able to reciprocate soon.

The always helpful merc shot me this info off an invoice of his for the rear cross joint, that guy seems to go way out of his way to help out a lot of us..Thanks merc.
