5.9 gas eonomy
anyways im sure someones asked before but i gotta 5.9 gas 1500 ram im in the process of 5-speed conversion and after im done i want to use some of tax return to boost the economy i plan on buying an edge programmer but i only had known it in deisel world never on gas motor so i wanted to know if anyone had any feedback on it or knew anything more efficent or cost affective? any advice is really appreciated
i've got a 97 5.2 gasser and since i replaced the cat with a high flow and the muffler with a thrush glasspack, and replaced the stock intake with a 14x3 round air filter, i've gained about 1.3 mpg. I average 14mpg/tank with some hard driving. I can get around 15.5 if i baby it.
There are numerous threads on the subject if you would just search around a little.

BUT these are not designed to be efficient. They are designed to be work masters.
If you get 14MPG, you are getting the EPA rated MPG.
I've come to the point now, that I can only say that a diesel can be made efficient to any measure, as the design of diesels are just more efficient. However, if you have not done a tune up in a while, it might be time. This will make somewhat of a difference in my experience.
