Big intake problem, please help!!!
So i just got done replacing the intake on my 98 Ram 318 with a cleaned up salvage part and I have a coolant leak (which Im pretty sure i know what the issue is there) but my big problem is a vacuum issue. On either side of the intake are the vacuum ports, on the driver side there are two ports. One that connects to the brake booster and the other one was plugged on my old intake. So I went to plug it one the new intake and the truck dies right out. Start it again and the same thing happens. My dad has the same truck and the same port is plugged up on his and it runs fine. ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOMED!!!
Reset the PCM, make sure everything is connected appropriately, and you don't have any vacuum leaks. Start the engine, and keep it running for a couple minutes. It should relearn the idle pretty quickly.
Make sure all your grounds are tight and all the electrical is connected nice and tight. (loose ground at the battery and missed connector did the same to me after my plenum repair was done)
I'll have to go back and check my grounds but I know all my vacuum lines are good and my pcv is about 2 weeks older than than the whole project. My brother was saying my head-to-intake gasket may be confusing the brain and causing the motor to die when the extra port is plugged. I guess another tear down is in my future lol. Worst part is that Im in Michigan and its cold and this bad boy is out in the weather lol.
