Default I have a problem with my brakes

I have notice ever since I bought my truck that when either I drive in the rain or it sits out in the rain that the next time I drive my truck the passenger side rear brake will lock up even under a light breaking. This seems to go away as soon as I brake once on pavement so it was never too much of an issue for me. But with the recent snow storm I had it took much longer to go away. I thought I would ask what could cause this and what I would have to do to fix it. I haven't worked much with drum brakes before, and I was told they were recently replaced.

Sounds like your shoes are kind of rusting up a bit and the hardware is sticking.

Rusting shoes is common, my truck does it every time it rains and I haven't driven it. However, I don't have locking rear brakes.

I guess I should have clarified, the brake only locks up when it is on gravel, like my drive way, snow/ice or every once and a while wet pavement.

I still think rusty hardware.
You could always pull the drum and take a look. Nothing should fall out.

Mine does the same thing. Not a big deal to me. Nothing looks out of place so I don't worry about it

Make sure that the backing plates on both sides either still have their metal knock-out tabs in place and intact, or rubber plugs to seal up those holes, and the backing plates themselves are not bent.

Once upon a time, missing plugs would usually result in the opposite side locking up. These days, it's not uncommon for the side that's missing a plug to lock up because the "green" shoes swell when wet. But if you don't have green shoes, the opposite side will lock. Either way, this problem goes away once the brakes are warmed and the water driven out.
