Oil pressure question
Figured as a new member I'd chime in even though most of yall said the same thing. At idle it's a little below 40 and when driving it seems to increase with speed to just above 45 or so. I have a 5.9 with 135,xxx on it.
Just a thought, but i've read that using synthetic oil as opposed to conventional can affect the oil pressure (as in cause fluctuations between idle and driving pressure). Not sure if this is actually true but I use synthetic and notice a fluctuation of approx. 35 psi at idle to 45-50 psi when driving around 2000 rpm. I havent researched much on the actual differences between the two so maybe one of the more experienced guys can correct me here
i have a 95 with the 5.9L and it has 229,4xx miles....My Oil PSI at idle is about 50psi (needle to the outside of the 0 where it says 40) and when driving, its between max and half which id say is 60-65 PSI? never falls below that....but ive also done alot of work to my truck...and i use Mobil 1 Advanced full synthetic 10w30 and a bosch filter thats rated for 10K miles.....Ive used synthetic since ive bought it at 187K, i change it every 5K, and its never more than a half quart low every time.....love my f'ing truck lol
