Default New to the forum

Just wanted to say hello, just got into my 1st dodge and haven't had any issues with it so far. Love the truck for what it is and seems to be very mechanically sound. It's a 98 1500 sport club cab with 4wd. Truck is bone stock with the 5.2L and a flowmaster cat-back exhaust. Has only 92k miles on it. Zero dash lights and power everything besides seats. Just had a remote start installed as well. Everything works like a dream on this truck besides power steering gets a bit stiff when turning in and out of parking spots and the fogs do not currently work. Anyone have any pointers or things to watch out for with these 2nd Gens? All advice is appreciated. Thanks

Transmissions suck.. The LSD diff tends to be problematic with the c-clips in it.. The plenum is another issue with these trucks. There is a sticky on the top of the main 2nd gen page.. Ball joints and wheels bearings are another issue that pop up the most..

Welcome to Dodge Forum... Gotta have a good sense of humor to deal with some of us folks here lol.. You can learn alot.

Yo Black-Snake-Name dude!!

Buuuuuut...it's a requirement to post a picture of the rig when saying you are "new to the forum". :P

Pictures can be done by uploading to offsite host like imageshack, photobucket (typical), Picassa (if you have gmail account you have this already), etc. Attaching photos to the site here has limitations on image size, file size, and file type.

+1 what Dlyter said.

Go through this subforum, you will find lots of useful information including download links to Factory Service Manual and Parts Manual, among other things -- https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...d-how-tos-143/

You have low miles on the truck, which is a great thing, however you could experience the typical stuff or indeed in good shape.

Is this the first fullsize 4x4 owned/experience with?

Lastly, use this forum for actual technical queries. Opinion, intangibles, open-ended scenarios are best suited in the 2nd Gen General Discussion subforum.

Haha thanks whiteknuckles. I will try to get some pics of the beast at some point. It's got some dings and some rust spots on the front fenders but its super solid and i enjoy the way it rides. This is my 1st truck iv ever owned. I figured i better go big or go home right lol? I always wanted to get a truck but just never pulled the trigger so i finally got serious about buying and from a couple of my buddies owning dodges i was a little partial to them. Also liked the way the 4x4 sits higher than most standard trucks on the road. I'm most likely gonna keep her stock for the most part but i do want to freshen up the appearance some. It has "deezee" side steps on it but they are the style that follows up the side of the fenders. Not a big fan of that look so i have a chrome set on the wish list. Already have a set of 5k hids in the mail too.

If you are doing HIDS do everyone on the road a favor and put them in the appropriate housings so you dont blind everyone.. If you dont the light output will be crap and you will blind anybody coming towards you

+1 do some searching on HIDs here. Lots of threads. The housing and proper harness are essential. You'll find a good bunch of ppl here that encourages doing things the "proper" way.

I plan on buying a set of clear 1pc lenses to go with the hids. What do you mean by appropriate housings?

Projector housings that are made for HIDS.. Like Knuckle said if you do a search on here you will come up with some good threads on the way to do HIDS proper.

I just joined the forum too and basically what i did was just go to the DIY section and read through all the stuff people have posted in there. A lot of good stuff. My top three "must-do" things when starting off with a 2nd gen are 1) tranny check valve delete and fluid change, 2) plenum fix, 3) tuner to get rid of the death flash (if you have it)
