Front driveshaft shouldn't be doing anything in 2wd..... should be disengaged completely. (unless of course, your cad isn't releasing..... )

Ok so I got into replacing the 4x4 light, good news it works as designed now but....

In the process of putting it all back together suddenly my tach, speedo, voltmeter and temp guages all when out. My gas and oil pressure guages are working correctly.

I am about to search online of clues, but I wanted to start here with you guys... Suggestions? Loose connection somewhere? ESS? Or just get a cluster from the wreckers??
Appreciate the input, thanks guys

when mine does that i remove the cover from the power distribution box behind the battery and locate the big white plug with the center screw (2001 model). i disconnect battery first and then disconnect/reconnect that big white plug a few times to scratch up the pins i guess. reconnect the battery and it always seems to fix it. the center screw does not tighten all the way tight. it acts like its stripped at the bottom. they all do that.

I got out this morning and did as you suggested, no big white plug with a screw in it on my truck. The only "white" plug was the alternator fuse. Appreciate the suggestion wish it had worked lol...
Any other ideas?

I just bought a 1997 1500 magazine. Front end was real noisy (creaking) when turned either left or right. Felt underneath and changed the idler. It quited the noise about a third. Now it feels like it is coming from the lower right side ball joint. Any thoughts or am I barking up the wrong tree. The vibration is definitely not coming from the tie rod.

1995 Ram 2500 4WD. We have a clicking sound and you can feel it in the steering wheel when turning either left or right in 2WD. 4WD I don't know. It happens most of the time. Bearings - one new and one solid. U-joints solid (one replaced). Left drive axle removed and lubricated. All fluids good. We have given up on the problem - don't use it much and it runs fine when driving straight.

creaking when turning is ball joints, or tie rods.

clicking is front universal joints.
