Default 4wd noise

Ok First off i have a posi-lck kit, never had any problems till a little bit ago. when i put the truck in to 4wd, i start hearing a banging/clicking sound like its coming from the 4wd drive shaft/area. What should I look for as I don't want to make any more problems then whats starting to happen.

Im blaming it on the kit. but kinda lost.

sometimes my **** gets out of adjustment and it's doesn't quite get the fork engaged. You might need to adjust it a little. Sometimes I have to roll it forward a little and pull on the cable and get it to completely engage after rotating the **** to adjust the engagement length a bit. I think I might have too much bend in the cable. If you've never changed your gear oil, it might be worth checking the fluid level just in case.

I will say when I know that 4x4 is engaged, it's there to stay thankfully!

Hard to say what a "banging/clicking" sound might be. I've had mine on for years and only this past year had a "ddddddddddd" kind of noise. It was the shift fork pads being worn and allowing the shift fork to wobble back and forth on the shaft.

can you put it up on 4 jack stands and operate it be careful of moving parts.

does it do it in 2wd, or only in 4wd. if only in 4wd then its likely the front drive shaft (drivers side) or something in the CAD (passenger side). try to determine which side its coming from

+1 on the front driveshaft u-joints if its only happening in 4wd. Also look at the front driveshaft ujoints and see if they are greasable, if so I would say grease them and see if the noise goes away or at least is quieter (didnt work for mine though, but worth a shot) I had a quite the click banging in mine as well, but I replaced all the joints in the front driveshaft and its as quiet as 2wd now.
