I don't know if my truck has a limited slip rear end or what gear it has in it. I looked for a tag on the axle.....nothing. I looked for a sticker under the hood but the words were washed away. Help can anyone run my vin and tell me or is there somewhere i can do it.

 

Check your glovebox. My truck and many others has the gear info listed in there.

 

the dealer should do it for free. they will ask you how much mileage is on it though. not that thats a problem.

I've always gone to the dealer and gotten mine. They can get you it for sure. Either that, or the girl in the parts dept. is just nice to me

I you have a floor jack, lift the rear end. In park with the parking break off, (front wheels chocked) spin a wheel. Wheel should spin freely if you have an open differential, other wheel spinning opposite direction if in park and parking break not hanging up. If wheel is difficult to turn, takes two hands, then you probably have limited slip. If hard to turn, put trans in neutral and turn, if it gets easier, with both tires spinning same direction, you know the breaks are released and limited slip. I think thats how it works.
