Front Axle Woes
Good morning.
I had a couple questions for you all knowing Mopar men. I recently replaced my right front axle seal, as it was leaking pretty bad. I had just about everything go wrong on the job, and need some opinions. First off, I really thought that we got the seal (3rd try) in and seated properly, but I found the axle to still leak a little. I have since bought the seal tool from the quad 4x4 website (I believe you all said to do so initially). The tool fits the seal amazingly, and I hope that this is a relatively fool proof procedure.
The BIG question though. Cad plate, 3 bolts came off, one snapped. The MAC bolt extractor snapped off in the hole! Obviously it got cocked in between the real hole, and my slightly off tilt pilot hole. Ug. It is hardened steel that my bits wont go through. I tried a diamond tip in the die grinder with melting non-success.
I need advice here men, as the I am stuck. I tried 3 bolts only with the RTV gasket. It worked really well, until I needed to start using the 4 wheel drive this winter.
What do do experts of garage lore?
Thanks very much!
