use some help about my axle please.
i have a 2001 (318) 5.2L sport club 1500 and it's 2wd can any one tell me the gear ratio ? and the actual type i thaught it was a dana 44 but i went to Advance an the guy looked at me like i was dumb and told me "i cant help you man" i have the 47RE tranny if that can help solve my issue too. Also what would you recommend make-a-seal, cork, or rubber/polyurethane gasket for my seal ( ive always been told to use make a seal).

You should have a sticker in the glove box that will tell you what ratio you have or it might be under the hood up by the grill, look up when you open the hood. You can also get a build sheet from dodge, there also might be a metal tag on the diff cover that will tell you what ratio you have. The rear end is a 9.25, no gasket is needed on the diff cover just use rtv silicon. Chances are you have 3.55 gear ratio.
A build sheet will only tell you what it left the factory with. Unless you are the original owner more research is required to know exactly what you have. It sounds like you are looking for a gasket for the rear end, in which case the cover will be off. Just count the number of ring teeth and divide by the number of pinion teeth and there's your ratio.
The 9.25 cover stands out from the crowd because it's shaped like a stop sign.

Just use RTV. Don't need a gasket. Get a Haynes manual, but not from that dork guy that talked to you at Advance. The one time he didn't become a robot and go to the computer to ask year/make/model/etc.
