Default 97 1500 Radiator replacement

So my rad is leaking pretty bad where the side tanks join. Gonna be replacing it on Friday. What kind of replacement rad do I want, and is this gonna be a big job? Just an OEM-type replacement from the local auto parts store? Any special tools required? Its been -35 degress here, so I havent spent much time looking at it. Lol!

Oooo, nice and toasty warm where you are too eh?

Just get the replacement from the parts store. Mine was like 146 bucks. Two gallons of coolant. (get the pure stuff, don't waste your money on pre-mix. you are paying for 50% water, and it is NOT 50% cheaper......) Might wanna look at your radiator hoses as well, and if they are old and crappy, replace them too.

I think it took me about an hour to do mine, but, I was chatting with a bud at the same time.... so, given cold temp motivation...... it's about a 20 minute job. Burping the cooling system afterward will take a bit though.

I did this on my dodge. The only problem I ran into was there was a transmission cooling line going to my radiator. Have to use a quick-disconnect tool to get it off. I didnt have one, so my dad used a couple of wrenches and pried it off. I wouldnt suggest doin it tho, the tool is only 7 bucks. I dont know if urs is the same, mines a 98, so i assume it would be.

Oops. Yep, his will be exactly the same. Forgot about that part, as on mine, I replace that part with a piece of hose to get rid of the check valve.
