All we can do is guess. Drive it. Crawl under it and look for wear. Grab and try to shake things around and see what moves.

Canders -- Have you driven this truck yourself? Only asking this b/c the owner can say anything they want that is from their point of view. I'm not saying they are dishonest.

I think anyone in the market for a 2nd Gen needs to just agree with the owner to take to buyer's chosen shop for these type visual checks. Having a jack and jack stands could tell you if this shutter/shake or whatever is only while under load or not (occurs when driving but not on jack stands).

Most difficult part to accept is when told the tranny was rebuilt x miles ago. Well, there are a ton of cases where the next day after receipt of rebuilt....stuff happens. Something to highly consider....take it with a grain of salt till your own 2 butt cheeks are sitting in it and eyes/hands checking yourself. IMO...it will determine a fair way of decreasing the asking price.

+1. And not all transmission rebuilders are good. ot that I am an expert, but I thin we have all heard horror stories about transmission shops. ANd "rebuit" may very from a few new parts and fush and adjustment to a full rebuild. Who knows.

Paying a little to a reputable shop for an inspection is a good investment.

I had the same issue with my 01 2500. ( check 01 shaking while driving thread) I replaced everything, ball joints, u joints, tie rods, you name it. some stuff even changed twice. 3 sets of tires and about 10 balance jobs. Came down to the front axles. The gears were worn inside and causing a binding or slipping action that caused the bouncing feeling. Just a thought to check the axles.
