Default Squeaking noise while in drive

Hey guys,

Just noticed a weird squeaking noise coming from my truck tonight. Its a loud intermittent squeak coming from somewhere under the truck while in drive only and gets faster with the rising rpm's. I put it in reverse and neutral and could not get it to squeak.

Any Ideas what it could be? I'm thinking u-joints on the drive shaft but am unsure how to confirm it.

Thanks

probably drive shaft u-joints.

park on level ground and block the wheels. trans in neutral and e-brake off so there is no tension on the drive line. grab the u-joints on each side of the cross and twist back and forth. should be no movement. visually check that seals are in place. if no movement, stick a screwdriver through the cross and pry back and forth. still should be no movement. if still no movement, remove driveshaft and flex the joints back and forth checking for dry noise.

more then likely your universal joints ( cost five bucks from advance auto) and rather easy to replace. hope that helps man if that doesn't help check your diff and change your fluid and check your gears. or could be possible that your rubber garments in between your leaf have completely rubbed away like mine

I lost a cup when a clip rotted out and broke off. The worse part was believe it or not, I was on the verge of hitting triple digits when it happened. (Racing another truck) Centrifugal forces threw the stub of the u-joint into the open eye where the cup was pressed into throwing the whole driveshaft out of balance. I got lucky though especially at that speed that it caught like that. Things could have been a lot worse. I was able to actually limp the thing home that way.
