After going through over four pumps in the last few year I will say why yes it is. Change it before it leaves you stranded.

Default Pumps

What brands did you use that caused that much trouble? I bet your damn good at changing a pump by now.

instead of replacing the whole entire unit i can get a good deal from a buddy that has the pump itself but its for a built engine, it has alot more psi then stock, 145 to be exact, will this hurt anything??

Nothing other than possibly blowing out regulator, fuel leaks, etc.
Get the Denso and solve problem forever (or nearly). I have over 280,000 miles on a Denso fuel pump. Stick with something designed for the application.

I was in a bind about a year and a half ago and had to install an Airtex in step son's car (out of town trip to do it, and no time to order Denso) and had to replace it again last weekend.

I think the Denso for the Taurus was about $12 more than Airtex. But gas to drive 150 miles each way, towing a trailer, to work on it in an RV park......the $12 was a good investment. That one should last until the rest of the car falls apart!
