Dual to Quad Beam Question
I'm going to do the dual beam to quad beam conversion and have questions on the bulbs, alignment, and reflectors.
Stock quad beam runs the 9007 bulb in low beam (55w) and the 9004 bulb in high beam (65w). The 9004 bulb could also do low beam at 45w if it were wired. The bases are different so they are not interchangeable.
Question 1: Can you run the 9004 bulb as low beam or would there be a problem with the aiming of that side since it was originally designed to run as the high beam (reflector aiming, etc)?
Question 2: Can you run both in low beam and still be ok and legal?
thanks

It would be aimed higher, being a nuisance to oncoming drivers. Legally, I don't believe it can be done, but laws differ by state. I have unaltered low beams, but I have two 6-inch Hellas with 130 watt bulbs wired into my high beams via relay and independent circuit on the top of my bumper. On a nice flat road, I can see the red of a stop sign reflecting back to me from literally a mile away.
Outside bulbs are 9007 inside bulbs are 9004 as posted already.
I have my sport lights all wired separate, I can run both lows, both highs or any other way highs and lows. As per your Q the 9004 in low are quite good better than the 9007's in low (yes that's right better). As for being legal I have no idea, I only use both in low in heavy fog or snow.

For the 96 year I had to rewire the 9004 org female bulb socket for a 9007 bulb. Next was cut out the fender so the inner 9004 would fit in the sport housing, 3" hole saw to start then sawz-all to cut the rest out. I made up my own separate harness for the 9004 two relays wired for ground switching control, then two wires in the cab to a three way rocker switch. So the stock headlight switch still works as normal 9007 and the rocker switch controls the 9004's, yes I have to work these on there own.
